inbound and content marketing using penSocial Media is a powerful inbound marketing tool. If you want to boost your presence online, you need to be active on social media sites. Through social media, communication has never been easier. You can reach your target audience at any time of the day no matter where they are in the world. And the fact that more and more people are getting hooked on social media means you need to take advantage of this and allow your message to be spread around the world. Among the largest social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

Social media sites are not just a powerful tool to reach your target audience. It’s also a helpful tool to build rapport with other business owners and share your goals and passions with like-minded individuals.

But a lot of businesses fail in using social media as part of their marketing strategy. Social Media influences inbound marketing in many ways. When social media first surfaced, it was often being used inappropriately. A lot of business owners spammed social media sites when in fact they should have been trying to build healthier relationships with people. What many business owners did was share posts many times and thus “spam” the site. Always respect people on social media. People are not dumb; so you shouldn’t attempt to share posts that look “spammy”.

The upside to social media is that its a great tool to start conversations with your customers and to find out what’s important to your target audience. Inbound marketing is about bringing in more qualified leads and converting them into paying customers, which social media can help to enhance. It involves interacting with other users online, building rapport with them, initiating conversations with the community, asking questions and answering some questions, and sharing content and photos that will attract more visitors to your site and start building trust with your brand.

For example one of the most powerful social media sites that can help boost your inbound marketing efforts is Facebook. Facebook currently has about 1.4 billion active users and is a powerful tool to start your marketing campaigns. But the key to using Facebook and other social media sites is not about getting thousands of likes or followers. It’s about how your followers are responding to your posts and how you can get them to visit your website and ultimately turn them into paying customers.

When using social media, it’s important that your SEO strategy and your social media strategy are intertwined to boost your inbound marketing efforts.

Another tip is to share high-quality content with your followers. Always update your posts and make sure they catch the attention of people on social media so that your inbound marketing efforts won’t be put to waste. Also think of your followers on social media as extensions of your inbound marketing team because according to Nielsen Research, 92% of consumers trust recommendations from family and friends more than any form of advertising they may hear or see. Thus when you have established trust with people on social media and they see you as an expert in your field, people will be likely to recommend your product or your services whenever someone needs them.
